Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda should brace for heavy rains between June and August 2026

According to ICPAC forecasts, wetter than usual conditions are expected in Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda during June to August 2026. Drier conditions are forecast for northern East Africa. Temperatures are expected to be warmer across the region. Meteorological agencies in Kenya and Tanzania warn of a looming El Niño in late 2026 to early 2027.
