Rwanda: Victor Rukotana Bets On Gakondo Music to Take Rwandan Culture Global

Victor Rukotana released his album 'Imararungu' in 2025, marking a turning point in his career and asserting the place of Gakondo music in Rwanda's entertainment industry. He subsequently created 'Dutarame u Rwanda', a monthly concert series aimed at establishing a culture of traditional music concerts and reconnecting young people with their heritage. Rukotana aspires to develop the Gakondo music economy and promote this culture beyond Rwanda's borders.
