The bail hearing for North West businessman Suliman Carrim was postponed until October 28 by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, which needs more time to examine transcripts from the Madlanga Commission. The State disputes Carrim’s account of when he learned he had been subpoenaed and says his earlier failure to appear raises doubts that he would return to court if released. Carrim was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport while preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia via Dubai. Prosecutors say he had a one-way ticket and five large bags, while his legal team disputes the claim that he had no return booking.
