France: 4 migrants die during attempt to cross the English Channel

French authorities reported that four migrants, two men and two women, died on Thursday while attempting to board an inflatable boat to cross the English Channel. François-Xavier Lauch, the prefect of Pas-de-Calais, stated that 38 other individuals were rescued, including one requiring emergency medical intervention. The migrants were swept away by dangerous currents while trying to access a 'taxi boat' used by smugglers.
