Beni: At least 50,420 proxies issued to parents in four years due to lack of civil registry

Since 2022, the civil registry office in Beni has issued at least 50,420 proxies to parents awaiting their children's birth certificates. Sylvain Kakule Lumbu Lumbu, the head of the office, emphasized that the lack of registers deprives thousands of children of their legal identity, thus compromising their fundamental rights. The Children's Parliament of Beni and several parents are calling for an urgent solution to address this situation.
