Telecommunications operators under ALTON defended the N6.98 charge for USSD transactions, stating that the cost reflects the services provided, regardless of transaction failures. ALTON Chairman Engr. Gbenga Adebayo compared telecom companies' roles to that of a transport service, emphasizing that each USSD request utilizes network resources. He also addressed concerns over data expiration, clarifying that data bundles are sold with defined validity periods.
