Tension in Cross River communities as cattle ravage farmlands

Tension is rising in six communities of Odukpani Local Government Area in Cross River State due to repeated destruction of farmlands by cattle belonging to Fulani herders. Farm produce worth millions of naira has been lost, worsening the economic strain on rural farmers. Community leaders reported retaliatory attacks by farmers leading to the death of a farmer in 2024, while security efforts have only provided temporary relief.
