Three Officers Injured as Al-Shabaab Attacks Elite SOG Camp in Mandera

Three police officers were injured after suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked a Special Operations Group (SOG) camp in Fino, Lafey Sub-County, Mandera County, on Friday night. The assailants used Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and PKM machine guns in the assault, which lasted about 25 minutes before officers repelled them. The injured were taken for treatment as security forces launched an operation to pursue the fleeing militants. Additional personnel were deployed to the area, which has previously been targeted by Al-Shabaab due to its proximity to the Kenya-Somalia border.
