Tony Elumelu, chairman of United Bank of Africa and billionaire investor, becomes chairman of Seplat Energy effective January 1, 2027. Current CEO Roger Brown will retire on July 31, 2026, and will be succeeded by veteran oil executive Effiong Okon as CEO from August 1, 2026. Seplat announced the changes as part of a structured succession plan to ensure continuity in governance and execution of its long-term growth strategy. Elumelu recently acquired a 20.07% stake in Seplat for $496 million.
