Troops arrest suspected Arab ISIS operative after failed ISWAP attack in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI arrested a suspected foreign operative linked to ISIS after repelling an ISWAP attack on Cross Kauwa in Borno State. During follow-up operations, they recovered communication equipment including high-frequency radios and captured a suspect of Moroccan origin. The suspect, identified from video footage of a neutralized terrorist cameraman, was flown by helicopter to a secure military facility for interrogation.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore described the arrest of the self-acclaimed Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, as 'the biggest cover-up ever.' Sowore alleged that the arrest and reported dehumanisation of Adeyemi suggest an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for truth, and called for the arrest and investigation of President Tinubu's Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. He further claimed that the individual alleged to have collected a ₦400 million bribe on Gbajabiamila's behalf has died under mysterious circumstances, and the hotel used for the transaction has been demolished. Adeyemi was arrested after a warrant was issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
