John Bolton, former national security adviser to Donald Trump, is set to plead guilty to one count of illegal retention of classified documents and pay a fine of over $2 million. Indicted in October 2025 under the Espionage Act on 18 counts, he allegedly sent over 1,000 pages of diary-like entries to two relatives, some containing top-secret material. He also failed to provide full details about a cyberattack on his personal email. He had pleaded not guilty at his initial arraignment.
