US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he intended to nominate his former personal lawyer Todd Blanche as attorney general on a permanent basis. Blanche, currently acting chief of the Justice Department after Trump fired Pam Bondi, has pursued indictments against Trump's perceived enemies, including former FBI director James Comey. Trump stated he would give the formal instruction on Thursday to make Blanche permanent attorney general. Blanche had led a contentious plan for a $1.8 billion compensation fund, which was later abandoned, while Trump's IRS protection remains in place.
