Tuareg rebels stated that Mali's ruling junta will eventually fall and that they plan to conquer the north of the country. Following unprecedented attacks on the military government, junta chief Assimi Goita acknowledged the gravity of the situation. The rebels have already captured the key town of Kidal and are now targeting Gao, Timbuktu, and Menaka, while recent clashes have resulted in at least 23 deaths, including the Defence Minister.
