Tunisia: protesters demand expulsion of undocumented migrants

Protesters gathered Saturday in front of the UNHCR headquarters in Tunis demanding the expulsion of undocumented migrants from sub-Saharan Africa. They also called for the UN agency to leave Tunisia. Since a cooperation agreement between the European Union and Tunisia in 2023, the country has become a key transit point for migrants hoping to reach Europe via the Mediterranean. These sub-Saharan migrants face xenophobic rhetoric and risk of attacks.
