Two Years in Prison for a 500 FCFA Deodorant: Badara Djigueul Faces the Judge

The Mbour District Court sentenced Badara Djigueul, a mason from Grand-Mbour, to two years in prison for stealing a deodorant worth 500 FCFA from an Auchan store in Saly Portudal. The defendant, a repeat offender, had rejected an out-of-court settlement proposed by the store management. The prosecution sought two years' imprisonment, including six months suspended, and the verdict is due on June 18, 2026. Djigueul apologized in court but maintained that the incident was a mistake.
