President Bola Tinubu signed an executive order on Virtual Assets Coordination in 2026. The order aims to strengthen cooperation among financial, revenue, and capital market agencies to protect Nigerians from fraud. The Virtual Asset Council, chaired by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), includes the Revenue Service and SEC as vice-chairs, along with the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Office of the National Security Adviser. A Virtual Asset Office, domiciled at the CBN, will handle day-to-day coordination.
