Influencer jailed on arms trafficking charges after seizure over unpaid rent in Colombia

Wendy Jeanette Durán Bocanegra, an influencer with around 8,000 Instagram followers, was placed in pretrial detention in Cali after weapons and ammunition were found at her home on October 23, 2026. Police had arrived to seize her belongings over allegedly unpaid rent and discovered a Colt 5.56-caliber rifle, two Glock pistols, 977 rounds of ammunition, sights, cash, equipment and drugs. She acknowledged having no firearms permit but denied the charges of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying firearms. Prosecutors are investigating the origin and intended destination of the items; the offenses carry a prison sentence of 9 to 12 years in Colombia.
