AFCON every two years: CAF consults member associations

The Confederation of African Football has reportedly written to its 54 member associations asking whether the Africa Cup of Nations should be held every two or four years. Journalist Micky Jnr says responses are due by Wednesday, October 28, ahead of an expected decision at the CAF executive committee meeting in Abidjan in November. CAF has reportedly warned that a four-year cycle could cause financial losses and require another competition to make up the shortfall. Early indications cited by Micky Jnr suggest many associations favour keeping the tournament every two years.
