Court grants ex-CCT chairman Danladi Umar N100m bail

A Federal High Court in Abuja granted bail of N100 million to former CCT chairman Danladi Umar with one surety in like sum. Umar was remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre after being arraigned by the EFCC on a four-count corruption charge, including receiving gratification from contractors of the Code of Conduct Tribunal. He pleaded not guilty.

The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has called on the Federal Government to intensify rescue operations for all citizens held by terrorists, including schoolchildren from Mussa, Lassa, Shikarkir, Ariko, Awon, and other forgotten communities across Nigeria. Spokesman Luka Binniyat condemned the silence of authorities and media regarding the abduction of 42 children, including toddlers as young as two, at Government Day Secondary School in Mussa, Borno State, on the same day as the Oyo abduction. The forum urged the Nigerian Union of Teachers, civil society organizations, and the international community to show the same solidarity as shown to the Oyo victims.
