U-17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos face North Korea in crucial clash

Nigeria face defending champions Korea DPR on Friday in Morocco, seeking a place in the U-17 Women’s World Cup round of 16. The two-time champions have won both opening matches and scored 12 goals, while the Flamingos bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Poland with a 2-0 win over Puerto Rico. A win or draw would guarantee Nigeria’s qualification under coach Akeem Busari; a defeat would leave its prospects dependent on the Poland–Puerto Rico result and tiebreakers. Kick-off is at 3 p.m. local time at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Salé/Rabat.

Tournament participation and performance prizes will be detailed later, while FIFA also plans to improve minimum player compensation, club payments and team accommodation.
