Uganda: Kizza Besigye seeks suspension of his trial

Dr. Kizza Besigye, an incarcerated Ugandan opposition politician, and his co-accused Hajji Obeid Lutale have filed an application with the High Court to suspend treason proceedings, citing violations of their constitutional rights. They allege illegal kidnapping, torture, prolonged detention, and prejudicial public statements by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the head of the defense forces. The two men argue that these factors undermine their right to a fair trial.
