Reps committee recovers ₦521m unremitted VAT from CBN

The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee recovered ₦521,765,134.17 in unremitted Value Added Tax from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The recovery followed an investigation into revenue leakages via the Remita platform. The CBN confirmed payment into the Federation Account on May 7, 2026. Committee chairman Bamidele Salam described it as an example of effective legislative oversight.
