Tanzanian ship attacked by Russian forces in the Black Sea

On July 14, 2026, Russian forces attacked a civilian cargo ship flying the Tanzanian flag in the Black Sea, killing one person and injuring three, according to Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper. Another Liberian-flagged vessel was also targeted, and a Russian drone struck a Marshall Islands-flagged ship, killing two. Kiper condemned the strikes as war crimes against civilians and global food security. Russia justified the attacks by claiming the ships were used by Ukraine's Armed Forces.
