Great-grandmother convicted of premeditated murder after tragic crash off Bainskloof Pass

Susana 'Sarie' de Villiers, 71, has been found guilty of three counts of premeditated murder for deliberately driving her three great-grandchildren off Bainskloof Pass, killing them. The victims were Joshua Booysen (2), Gradwell Booysen (5), and Caleb Booysen (8). The crash occurred on November 20, 2021, when de Villiers drove through roadwork barriers and plunged approximately 80 metres down the mountainside. She survived and was deemed mentally fit to stand trial by a panel of psychiatrists. Sentencing is set for August 7 at Worcester Regional Court.
