World Cup star arrested days before tournament over fixing allegations – Report

Ivory Coast international Elye Wahi, 23, was arrested by French police on May 29 as part of an investigation into organized fraud and sports corruption. He is suspected of deliberately seeking a yellow card in a Ligue 1 match between Nice and Metz on May 17. Despite the ongoing investigation, Wahi was named in Ivory Coast's World Cup squad. The Ligue de Football Professionnel confirmed it is looking into the matter but has not yet initiated disciplinary proceedings.
