Simpler, older version of Stonehenge found three miles from famous site

Archaeologists have discovered a simpler, older version of Stonehenge about 3 miles (5km) from the famous site. The structure, dated to around 5,000 years ago, predates Stonehenge by 500 years. Only two holes remain, which held wooden posts aligned with the summer and winter solstices. Artifacts including pottery, flint tools, and animal bone suggest prehistoric gatherings. Phil Harding from Wessex Archaeology led the excavation and called it one of the best finds of his career.
