UniAbuja promotes 34 academics to professorial ranks

The Governing Council of the University of Abuja, now Yakubu Gowon University, has approved the promotion of 34 academic staff to professorial ranks. Seventeen were promoted to full professor and 17 to associate professor across disciplines including community medicine, veterinary medicine, engineering, and physics. The promotions, effective from October 2025, were ratified at the 101st council meeting on July 10 and 11, 2026. Vice-Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi congratulated the promotees and reiterated the university's commitment to rewarding academic excellence.
