Neighbour’s Sallah cooking fire guts journalist’s home

A journalist with Radio Nigeria's Globe FM Bauchi, Murtala Muhammad, narrated how a fire from a neighbouring compound where Sallah meat was being fried destroyed part of his three-bedroom apartment. The incident occurred on Thursday night last week, a day after Eid-el-Kabir, when the fire reignited after being thought extinguished and spread to his roof. Muhammad raised the alarm, neighbours responded, and the Fire Service eventually arrived. No lives were lost, and the owner of the house where the fire started, Wakilin Birni, accepted responsibility and helped repair the damage.
