The 723rd edition of the annual 'Miss de Diobaye' hunt took place on Monday in Fatick, western Senegal. Hundreds of Serer men, in a trance, parade with drums, songs, and gunshots, carrying jackals, monitor lizards, monkeys, and birds. This ancestral ritual aims to invoke rain and marks the start of the agricultural season, but it is disrupted by deforestation, modernization, and climate change.
