US and Iran exchange strikes in Gulf in latest test of ceasefire

US forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones over the Strait of Hormuz and then struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites. Iran retaliated by firing ballistic missiles at two US air bases in Kuwait and US Navy facilities in Bahrain, with six of seven missiles intercepted according to US Central Command. The strikes come days after an earlier escalation that threatened the ceasefire in place since April, and as peace negotiations stall.
