US prosecutors have charged Sinaloa state Governor Ruben Rocha Moya and nine others, accusing them of links to the Sinaloa drug cartel. The indictment alleges that Rocha Moya and the others worked with cartel leaders to smuggle large quantities of narcotics into the US in exchange for political support and bribes. This support reportedly extended to Rocha Moya's 2021 election campaign, where cartel members allegedly helped secure his victory through intimidation and election manipulation.
