US lawmakers press Israel to let cancer patients out of Gaza for treatment

More than 60 US Congress members called on Israel to lift restrictions on Palestinian cancer patients in Gaza to seek treatment in hospitals in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The letter, addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, was signed by 51 House members and 11 Senators, including Bernie Sanders and Chris Van Hollen. They urge the Trump administration to facilitate medical evacuation of child cancer patients and obtain Israeli guarantees they can return to Gaza. The UN estimates about 11,000 cancer patients in Gaza, and WHO says 94% of hospitals were destroyed or damaged.
