US, Lebanese delegations meet to discuss Israeli ‘pilot zones’ withdrawal

Military delegations from the US and Lebanon met in Beirut to implement the first phase of a US-brokered framework agreement for Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Talks focused on establishing a mechanism for the first of two 'pilot zones'. The agreement, rejected by Hezbollah, sets no timetable for withdrawal, and Israeli officials vow to maintain a 10km security zone. Over 732,000 people are displaced in Lebanon according to OCHA.
