US says strikes launched as explosions heard in southern Iran

The US military launched airstrikes against Iran in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Explosions were reported in Sirik port, Qeshm Island, and Bandar Abbas. Iran's foreign ministry held the US responsible for breaching the June MoU that mandated lifting the naval blockade in exchange for reopening the Strait.
