Jean-Pierre Bemba Calls for Reforms to Make Transport Corridors More Competitive in the DRC

DRC Deputy Prime Minister for Transport Jean-Pierre Bemba called in Kinshasa on Monday, October 26, for an integrated approach to transport corridors combining infrastructure, energy, logistics and customs reforms. Speaking at the opening of the RIF 2026 forum, he urged the development of storage facilities and digital services, safer trade, simplified and digitized customs procedures, and stronger coordination among states. He said production areas must be better connected and logistics costs reduced so Congolese businesses and communities along the routes can benefit more from regional trade. The three-day forum brings together political leaders, investors and experts and concludes on October 28 with discussions on project financing and the RIF 2026 awards.
