A study by Arnold Foko Kengne (University of Dschang) and Fabrice Ewolo Bitoto (University of Johannesburg) recommends that the BEAC create a regional liquidity facility of 1,700 to 2,300 billion FCFA to finance food, energy, and pharmaceutical imports during geopolitical crises. The amount corresponds to 3-4 billion USD, or 2-3% of the CEMAC regional GDP. The study was presented on July 10, 2026.
