‘We will protect valid votes in Kogi LG election,’ says KOSIEC chairman

Mamman Nda-Eri, chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), said valid votes would be protected and counted in Saturday’s local government election. Monitoring the poll, he defended the commission’s neutrality and said polling units would not close at 3 p.m. while voters were still waiting in line. He dismissed some allegations circulating on social media, acknowledged complaints from political parties, and said some parties had not met the requirements to participate. Nda-Eri attributed turnout to voter education and party mobilisation and urged eligible voters who had not yet voted to cast their ballots.
