The City of Cape Town says it has received no national funding for its affordable-housing projects since 2021, despite submitting six qualifying grant bids. Human Settlements Mayco member Carl Pophaim says recent progress has largely depended on City policies and the release of municipal land. The dispute comes as low-income residents face barriers to living near jobs and public transport.
