N1.83TRN MARITIME REVENUE: Importers, agents kick over revenue targets, poor ports

The federal government announced that agencies under the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy generated N1.83 trillion in 2025, a 160% increase from 2023. However, importers, represented by Mr. Joseph Ajoku, lament the increasing pressure to meet these revenue targets, resulting in additional costs and cargo stoppages. Mr. Lucky Amiwero, president of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents, also questioned the government's decision to borrow funds for port development despite substantial revenue generated.
