2027: Tinubu’s re-election is critical to our industrial transformation, says RMRDC boss

Raw Materials Research and Development Council Director General Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso said in Abuja that Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 was critical to consolidating Nigeria’s industrial transformation, attracting investment and creating jobs. Speaking at the second Africa Raw Materials Summit 2026, he called for continued industrial policies to expand processing plants and manufacturing clusters and reduce exports of unprocessed commodities. He said a proposed bill requiring at least 30% of raw-material processing to take place in Nigeria could generate more than 1.2 million jobs and increase annual non-oil export earnings by over $1.2 billion. Ike-Muonso also cited the AfCFTA, the Nigeria First Policy and the 2025 Nigeria Industrial Policy as measures that could support local production.
