Mkhwanazi and Lerutla granted bail, surrender passports to the state

Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Brig. Julius Mkhwanazi and Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla were granted bail of 30,000 rand each by the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court. Mkhwanazi faces charges of fraud, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice related to a 2019 speeding case. He was arrested at his home, where police recovered ammunition. Lerutla was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport and pleaded not guilty.
