Benin: Collapse of a wall at EPP Yénawa-Daho (8 injured taken care of)

A wall at the Yénawa-Daho Public Primary School in Cotonou collapsed on May 8, 2026, injuring seven students and one teacher. The victims were hospitalized, including one student who was admitted to the operating room for a head injury. Cotonou's mayor, Luc Gnacadja, announced an investigation into the circumstances of the collapse and the coverage of medical expenses for the injured. The Departmental Directorate of Maternal and Primary Education of Littoral mentioned deficiencies in the quality of construction materials used.
