The African Development Bank has approved $878.09 million in financing for the construction of a 230 km railway section between Ghardaïa and El Meniaâ in Algeria. This project is part of a 495 km north-south rail axis linking Laghouat, Ghardaïa and El Meniaâ, with progressive commissioning expected by 2030. The goal is to establish Algeria as a major logistics platform between the Maghreb, Europe and Africa, facilitating goods transport and boosting economic exchanges. Ultimately, the line will connect Algiers to Tamanrasset, supporting the country's economic diversification.
