Ogun 2027: Adebutu dismisses exclusion from INEC list

Oladipupo Adebutu, the PDP’s governorship candidate in Ogun State, called his omission from INEC’s list of candidates a temporary distraction and said it would not derail his 2027 bid. He spoke on Monday in Abeokuta while welcoming more than 1,000 APC defectors led by former House of Representatives member Segun William, alongside PDP leaders including Iyabo Obasanjo. Adebutu claimed 20 years of loyalty to the PDP and said its recent membership registration recorded more than 19,800 members, with his registration number listed as 1536. He also said the party’s mobilisation team had visited 12 of Ogun’s 20 local government areas and more than 140 of its 236 wards.

He raised concerns that fake audio or video announcing a postponement could be circulated on the eve of the vote, when media verification and candidates’ response windows are limited. INEC’s priorities include teaching voters how to verify information, strengthening technological protections and responding in real time.

Judith Suminwa calls for women to become central actors in peace in the Great Lakes region

In Dar es Salaam on November 2, Congolese Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka called for women to play a stronger role in preventing and resolving conflicts in the Great Lakes region. At the Parliamentary Conference of Women for Peace and Development, she advocated for women to have real influence in decision-making rather than merely symbolic representation. She condemned the impact of armed conflict in eastern DRC, including violence and forced displacement affecting women and girls, and praised their resilience. Twenty years after the Nairobi Pact, she urged regional commitments to be turned into concrete action for peace and development.
