Some 30 Malian soldiers killed during Anefis retaking, says army chief

Army chief General Jean Elysee Dao stated that about 30 Malian soldiers were killed and 60 wounded during the operation to retake the northern town of Anefis from rebels. The town was captured on July 4 by Tuareg separatists and al-Qaeda-linked fighters. The army regained control after nearly a week of fighting. The Tuareg-led Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on government forces and their Russian allies.
