King’s College: Workers threaten nationwide shutdown of Unity schools, ministry

The crisis over the proposed concession of King’s College in Lagos escalated as workers at the Federal Ministry of Education threatened to shut down all Federal Unity Colleges if the government does not reverse the controversial plan. The Joint Council, representing four major unions, warned that unless the concessioning plan was reversed, they would prevent resumption in all Federal Unity Schools. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was commended for approving the recruitment of over 3,000 Parent-Teacher Association staff, but concerns were raised about the logic of hiring new staff while existing teachers were being asked to seek redeployment.
