Man jailed for 10 years for failing to report Boko Haram members

Malam Mele Modu, a father of eight from Abara village in Borno State, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday. Justice Binta Nyako rejected his claim that he feared being killed and convicted him under Nigeria’s 2013 terrorism law. His sentence runs from 2016, when he was arrested by security operatives.

Opeifa acknowledged, however, that Rigasa station in Kaduna was adopted hurriedly and lacked adequate access control.
