The health workers’ inter-union body in the Beni-Butembo-Lubero region of North Kivu has given provincial authorities 14 days to address its demands or face a strike. In a letter to the governor dated October 15, it called for urgent supplies of personal protective equipment in Ebola-affected areas and hazard pay for all health workers exposed to the disease. Deputy coordinator Mongerwa Nzoli said the unions are also seeking better working conditions and pay for staff at Ebola transit and treatment centres.
