Americans vote in midterms set to upend Trump presidency

Americans are voting in midterm elections that put all 435 House seats, 35 Senate seats and governorships in 36 states at stake. Democrats hope to take control of both chambers and constrain Donald Trump’s agenda amid anger over the cost of living and the war against Iran. Decision Desk HQ’s final forecast projects a 241–194 Democratic majority in the House and a narrower 52–48 Democratic majority in the Senate. Trump’s approval rating is near 30%, and at his final campaign appearance he focused largely on renovations to Washington’s Reflecting Pool.

After adopting the motion, the House urged the authorities to verify and pay all legally owed arrears within a clearly defined period.

Four members of the APC State Executive Committee in Osun reject the party’s parallel presidential campaign committee list, saying it violates party guidelines, due process and inclusiveness. They say the new list conflicts with an earlier presidential directive naming Governor Ademola Adeleke to lead the state campaign, after which he inaugurated a broad-based team. The dissenting members urge the APC’s national leadership, especially its National Secretary, to intervene, prevent division and clarify the committees’ responsibilities.
