Maasai Mara University Ordered to Pay 19 Lecturers Ksh 11M in Unpaid Dues

The Employment and Labour Relations Court in Kisii ordered Maasai Mara University to pay 19 former part-time lecturers Ksh 10.19 million in unpaid dues from work performed between 2014 and 2016. The court found that the university violated the lecturers' right to fair administrative action by failing to settle their claims despite investigations and recommendations by the Commission on Administrative Justice. The university acknowledged that about 80% of the claims were genuine, but the lecturers remained unpaid, and the court ordered the university to pay the amounts with interest.
